Recreate Sherlock Holmes trailer title
This is one of my favorite Directors “Guy Ritchie” and Prologue did a great job building motion graphics for the film Sherlock Holmes. I really love it so I try to recreate some of the titles in cinema 4d and after effects. Hope you like this and used in real projects.
If you have problems watch the tutorial in HD try to watch it here.

wow thx alote man keep up awsome tutorials
WOW thanks for this tut
Very nice site!
Awesome man!
Love it… Learned a lot today.
Is there a quick way of doing multiple titles with this technique,
or do you just have to repeat this technique for every title?
If you wont the same effect you have to. I try with random effector but is not controlable like hand made keyframes
Hey Alexander,
Thank you so much for the tutorials. Im an amateur that really wants to learn cinema 4d and after effects but i always feel “scared”. With your tutorials tho i feel its not that hard after all!
One question and one request.
Whats the diff between using the text and the mograph text thing?
Also i would like if you could explain a little why you do things the way you do and why you do them like that.
Thank you so much again.
Nashie
There is no difference between using MoGraph text and Splines from illustrator just with MoGraph text you have extrudes, with normal splines you have to use ExtrudeNURBS to have same effect, butt with splines you have more control over the shape so for that I prefer splines
You also have the options for ‘chracter’, ‘word’ and ‘all’ with the mograph text, which can make life easier/quicker for certain tasks.
Rob
Thanks Rob, I’m glad you here
Alexander, you are the man! Thanks very much for taking the time out to do tutorials. you are an excellent teacher! keep it up!
fantastic tutorials, great work, keep it up
A Request for you, if you can do a tutorial to do a similar title for any of these films; Transformers, Terminator, Star Trek
I have been trying to do a good metalic text effect for some time, Thanx
U R AMAZING….
Thanks for the reply Alexander
I appreciate it!

Hi:
Have you think to publish some tutorial about creating an interior (for architecture) or exterior building??
I havent find any like that on internet.
I think that I don’t have some interior design skills and maybe if I create something cool I’ll post butt for now I’m not that good in that
WOW! You are a genius!! Your work is BRILLIANT!!!
Hy. This look absolutely great!
I’m wondering why are you not animating the letters with mograph.
I’m talking about the rotation of the letters and so on.
Nonetheless, thank you for the nice tuts you have in here.
I’ve already learn a lot about texturing just by watching this one.
Hi, I try furs time but you don’t have option to manipulate each letter axis center and it’s not rotating in the right way, and with separate letters you have more control how exacly the animation will look like
How often do you publish?? I enter all day looking for something new… I WANT MOOORE… you are amazing.
Haha, thanks for checking, end of this week I’ll publish a tutorial for recreating the Transformers Logo Reveal
I think you should consider making some basic training videos for cinema 4d. And yeah… i check everyday too for something new
Transformers logo reveal sounds great Alexander. Thank you again for the effort you put in this site. You have variety in your tutorials and that’s what “we” need. Thanks again!

Hey Alexander, thanks for this tutorial. If you’d like to do something in conjunction with Motionworks just let me know. Best wishes, John Dickinson.
This will be great John I really appreciate that, love your work and I’m glad for your offer! If I can be helpful with something just let me know I’ll be more than happy.
Supper thanks man, more tutorials please
My russian is not that good so pleas ask in english please
Hm.. I thought you’re russian guy. )) So I was wrong. What country do you live in? Bulgaria? Poland? ))
Nevertheless thanks for all your tuts. They are awesome. Very interesting for the beginners. Keep going man! )
I was wondering why do you have to select every single object and then move it in Z instead of selecting all the objects at once and typing the value in Z coordinates window?
And I would like to ask you to put your attention to the complex materials in the next tutorials. If it possible of course.
Thanks! )
Hi, I’m from Bulgaria and the Z space I really don’t remember what I’v been doing may be I was looking for more organic animation.
No. I was talking about the moment when you was repositioning the anchor point of every single object – select the objects’ anchor point > drag it in z space, select the objects’ anchor point > drag it in z space, select the objects’ anchor point > drag it in z space, etc… It is more faster and easier to select all the objects, select Use Object Axis Tool and then type the desired value in Z coordinates window for all objects at once. )
Hi, I combined this tutorial with the Slow one.

Your tutorials help me meet my deadlines your truly a genius.
Hey guys hi,
Hey alexander you are genius…………
Ok i want to share a little thing with you guys…..
In tutorial(sherlock) in after effects at point where we have layers stacked in order like this
shadow
specular
main
then we pre-compose it 1st & 3rd
After…inside pre-comp we duplicate the main & place it above the shadow &
then with shadow selected we set the Track matte is “Alpha matte”.
Instead of “Alpha matte” select the “Luma matte”.
That because of to get rid of those white edges for which alexander used the motion blur…
If you don’t have that plugins try my tip…………
See you son guys…….
i support you fully. I was so lost in this program until i caught one of your videos. Thank you so much

Hey Alexander, GREAT work! I am brand new to cinema 4d and I am currently in the middle of your sherlock holmes tutorial (my first tut) and its coming out great. I have one question, what if you have to do several names/or titles? it seems like alot of work to do recreate that effect to multiple titles. Is there a way to create a template where you simply edit the text? Thanks again friend for sharing your knowledge.
you can use noise or random effector
en,why I can’t see the tutorial? Only the files I can download from the site, anyway I love this website, and I come from China, maybe I can’t see the tutorial only in China ,administrator can give me the key that how I can download the tutorial ?Thanks
