Future tutorial for create 3D Jelly text or logo in Maxon Cinema 4D & After Effects
The tutorial should be published 21 January 2010 on CGTuts+
All starts with Adobe Illustrator where I create logo splines. Import them in Cinema 4D. Use Extrude NURBS to make splines 3D. Then break the 3D logo in regular grid mesh to have extra geometry for use this geometry with Bone tool in C4D. Set up Bone structure & connect it to logo. I start to animate the logo and it will behave like is 3D Jelly. Export After Effects ( separate the logo from the background with alpha & lumma matte )composition and bring all that in AE. Use the 32bpc to recreate the color glow.Use curves to give some contrast and other color corrections. Simulate motion blur using RSMB plugin for AE

A video tutorial for this would be really good. Thanks.
This tutorial will be for CGTuts+ and I will post it when it is ready in Tutorials section.
Thank you so much for this. I have longed to find a place that marries C4D and AE.
Here is my test using this tutorial!

Nice man, I like that you sent some results
No, Thank you. I’m happy with the results though I still would like to tweak the BG…could use another level of interest instead of a simple color ramp. Maybe some particles.
As for showing result, I feel it only right. It’s because of you and the tutorial that I have finally taken a step past using C4D as a modeler or static image renderer. Can’t wait to find out more about C4D’s animation abilities. Also, this is my first journey into taking C4D into AE. LOVE IT!

How do i edit text in the .c4d file i download? thanks.

Thanks Choppre!
The next thing that I will do in next week is new tutorial.
这样的效果 以后肯定用的到 谢谢德罗夫
The only problem is that after unchecking the Hard IK from the Main(bone)Tag,
then playing the timeline and moving the Main(bone) forward and backward,
the logo doesn’t make the jelly movement, the logo stays the way it originally is….?
I followed the tutorial procedure precisely, can someone help me?
Hi Tover, my advice is to take the stapes again so if you miss some detail the setup wont work. Make shore that all the bones below the main bone are no Null bones.
Hello Alexander,
Very nice tutorial, thank you!
I have the same problem of Tover, I redid the steps 3 times buttthe logo doesn’t make the jelly movement, (and sub-objects are not null). Strange!
I put link where you can download (see up in the post) the project so you can see what’s going on
Thank you very much for your file Alexander!
I did not find differences but I solved my problem in a funny way: I copied and pasted my logo in a new blank document C4d and it works .. very strange!
I’m glad
very strang!!
I have the same problem
I solved same way
copy and paste…
I like to say that your tutorials rocks, you gave me the ambition to follow my dream. What Cinema 4D product do you use?
R11.5
Why not Cinema 4D Broadcast Edition !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Keep up the good work!!!
Greetings from Curacao!
Hi Alex,
All these years I been using 3ds max… Your tutorial is my 1st time of even hearing of cinema 4d… I dont know where to start learning…
Is there a website with tutorials as good as yours that help for 3d Max that your know? Otherwise I’m going to have to go out and spend load of money on cinema 4d and then start learning.
Help me out,
Peace!

Alex,
I really like your teaching style. Keep up the great work. Last year I learned After Effects from Andrew Kramer. This year I’m learning C4D from Grayscale, pariah & You. You guys are great.
I really appreciate your generosity & your skills.

Hi Alexander,
Great tutorial! There aren’t enough tutorials using IK in the world. Glad you showed us something new and fun.
Like a few other people I had to copy and paste everything into another C4D file. Maybe it’s a mac bug. Either way, it worked! Thanks for the comments section!
Hey I got a question… I don’t know if it is me or what… but I have did this jelly like tutorial about 6 times and when you get to the point where you move the main bone and the extruded text starts bending mine is not bending at all and I followed your steps 6 times and I still get the same brick wall. I’m using Cinema4d 11.514 is that the reason that I cant get this to work or am I just that dumb? Any help please.
Hm, why you dont download the project and check it out may helps
Hey great tutorial, i really love ur work. very creative and clean stuff….it”s sooo awesome. Is there a reason why u used the bones instead of the joint tool? was just wondering if the same effect can be achieved using the joint tool.
May be cause i know bones better
thanks…and keep up the awesome work!!! u rock!!!!
Hey man. Great tutorials here, im a young designer of 17 yeard old. I have a question. What kind of software are you using to run this blogwebsite? I really want to make my blog too, I only have my portfolio (oscarsalas.com) and without reel, im working on that, of my first year in Motion Graphics. A lot of works are in youtube, that was the base before getting my website. youtube.com/user/xozcarsalas. Im a little bit new with cinema 4D but im getting better with this tutos and Greyscalegorrillz Tutorials. Thanks
Also, if you can answer what kind of software are you using, and what template is this because i love it a lot, i will appreciate (im asking because i watched this template in other website, or idk if im confused).
thanks
Ya this is wordpress template you can find here
I’re the best. Sense of the animation is spectacular.
Thank you Alexander for such interesting and comprehensive tutorial!!!
great tutorial!
but i would like to know how to do it in C4D R12? i think the “bone” has been removed?
You need to grab the “joint tool” from the character menu. When u option-click (on the mac, think must be strg on pc) you can create joints. Between two joints cinema will automatically create a “bone” object. The attributes of the bones are defined by the position of the joints, that´s why there is no need for creating bones anymore.
Cheers.,
PS: Alexander, you rock! Hope to see some new tutorials soon.
Greetingz from Dubai.-
Chris…I used the joint tool in R12 and can get the IK to work for one set of bones, but can’t get the left and right to be controlled by a “main” bone using IK. Any suggestions? Maybe I am missing something. Thanks!
By the way, Alexander…awesome work man!
Hi alexander i like your transformers title tutorial it looks nice i good result please give the download link directly for the tutorial it will be more useful for us
How do you do this with R13, I can’t even find how to make a bone?
Hi,
Could you be kind enough to recreate this in R13, am sure its simple with all those new features. Thanks much.
